Bolivar Corona Gigantes Vintage 1953

Bolivar Corona Gigantes - (Cuba) NO DATE CODE (CLARO) HENCHO EN CUBA These cigars are in mint condition and plume is also present. The Bolivar Coronas were originally purchased in Damman's Tobacconist Melbourne in 1953 on the corner of Collins and Swanson Street, one of the first tobacconist in Australia to import Cuban Cigars into the country. Damman's Melbourne closed around the 1980's. The cigars were kept in a cellar, and the bottom of the box is slightly stained but inside the box is absolutely perfect due to the cedar ply being thicker in the old days. This is a real find, and in such good condition. This is truely a rarity and anyone who enjoys pre embargo cigars will not want to miss out on these. The last vintage Cuban cigar sale of this size was May 20, 1999, when Christie's had 200 lots on offer. A box of 25 1975 Ramon Allones Gigantes (7 5/8 inches by 49 gauge) in ``fabulous'' condition sold for 3,600 pounds, compared with pre-sale estimates of 1,000-1,500 pounds. Based on U.S. prices the Gigantes were worth about $228 each. ``Honestly, these were the most beautiful cigars in the auction,'' David Wainwright, another Christie's cigar expert.
