Cigarworld owners Ray and Vicki Battistella have been wholesaling and retailing Padron Cigars in Australia for over 12 years, and are proud to be agents for one of the worlds top cigar brands. 2004 marked the 40th Anniversary of the founding of Padron Cigars by owner Jose Orlando Padron on September 8 1964 in Little Havana (Miami), Florida. At its inception, the company had a total of two employees. Even with his humble beginnings, Jose Padron always focused on the quality of the cigars he was producing, not the quantity. He knew the Cuban community missed Cuba, so he set out with the objective that the Cuban exiles not miss their Cuban cigars.The company had one cigar roller who made cigars all day. Today much has changed but much has stayed the same. Padron Cigars has fully intergrated all aspects of the cigar manufacturing process, from planting the tobacco seed to distributing the finished product to cigar retailers. Padron Cigars now has over 600 employees working in their factories in Nicaragua and Honduras and their corporate headquarters, which is still in the same locale in Little Havana (Miami) where it all started in 1964. Padron Cigars is still a wholly owned family business. Jorge, Orlando, Rodolfo, Lisette and Elizabeth Padron represent a new generation of Padrons working under Jose Orlando Padron's leadership to continue the family legacy. Through the years, one thing remains and will remain unchanged - the dedication to making the finest cigars. For Padron it all boils down to one simple belief.... The Padron 1926 Series which premiered in 2002 to commemorate Jose O. Padron's 75th birthday. This line consists of 4 sizes and available in both sun-grown natural and maduro wrappers. All tobacco used in this line is aged for a full five years to create an exceptionally smooth, complex, balanced and full bodied flavour. With an annual production of this offering limited to 100,000 cigars. To Padron Cigars ultimate special release of the Padron 40th Anniversary Torpedo. In honour of the company's 40th Anniversary in 2004. This line consists of 1 Torpedo 6 1/2" x 54 available in both natural and maduro wrappers, aged for a full six years and was voted by Cigar Aficionado as the best cigar 2005. The original release was in a 400 box collectors edition, hand crafted, carved cedar chest, featuring a painting of a tobacco plantion by renowned Nicaraguan artist Marcio Diaz. Each chest containing 40 limited edition Torpedo cigars. Now available in boxes of 20.
